Jud Stephens
Coach Stephens is in his 14th year in education and coaching, and boys basketball has been a part of every one of those years. Along the way, he has also had the opportunity to coach water polo, softball, volleyball, and baseball. He has spent most of his career in Cy-Fair ISD, with the majority of that time at Cypress Creek High School. During his nine years as the boys basketball program’s first assistant, the team won four district championships, made the playoffs nine consecutive years, and advanced to the regional round multiple times. A Michigan native, Coach Stephens graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in K–12 Special Education. Outside of school and basketball, he enjoys camping, fishing, and riding his bike. He is married to Amber, who is also an educator, so education is definitely a big part of the Stephens household. Coach Stephens enjoys working with student-athletes and helping them grow not only as players, but as people. His background in special education has reinforced the importance he places on relationships, accountability, and helping each student find a way to be successful.
